Fitness wise, I think I am doing pretty ok this time around. I have already lost 5 lbs since December 28th. That’s doing pretty good I think.  Basically the only thing I am doing is a bit of strength training and my treadmill 3 x a week for 45 minutes. I run for about 10-15 minutes and walk the rest. I think that there are two very important factors here – My calorie counting and also my determination.

The last time I had determination I went from 145lbs to 125 lbs. That’s a 20 lb loss. I looked and felt great. I want to get back to that time 2 years ago. And I want to be able to keep it this time.

One of my biggest problems I think is that I suffer from S.A.D. Or “Seasonal Affective Disorder.”

During the winter months I lose interest in just about everything. This takes a toll on me and my relationship. Thank Goddess my bf puts up with me during these dark times.

This year, I did a little reading on the subject. Actually I saw an article in one of my health magazines that offered some suggestions. One is a “therapy light” that I actually ended up buying. I found a small desktop lamp for around $85.00 bucks. I use it everyday if I can. I turn it on while reading my email and the 20-30 minutes flies by!

I also started taking melatonin to help “regulate” my sleep cycles. When you suffer from S.A.D your sleep patterns are totally outta wack and that does not help your 24 hour body rhythm.

Honestly, I feel better. I am not yawning all day and my moods are actually improving a bit. I’m not as depressed and I can actually get my ass moving now.

Diet wise – I’ve also got some awesome tools to help log my exercise and calories. I use a place called “Sparkpeople.com.” It’s an amazing place that does not cost a penny to use – and it is 100% amazing!

I also have a cool application on my I Touch too. It also let’s me log all calories and exercises – so I have no excuses as to why I can’t “log” for the day. I also went to Finish Line and bought a really nice pair of Nike Shox, and also the Nike + IPod sensor that you put in the shoe and it records your walk and also how many miles you walked and the pace and calories burned!

I have no more excuses as to why I can’t be active and keep track of my stuff!

And I gotta tell ya, something is working. If I keep it up at the pace I am going I will be able to be at my target weight in 12 weeks. That’s just in time for the spring and summer months!

Go for it! 12 weeks will fly by and you know you will be chuffed to the moon and back if when you do it. Start planning that 12 week reward – give yourself something more to aim for heh!

I really need to get back into the exercise myself – I was losing a straight 4lbs a week at the gym but got thrown out of habit with one of the kids in hospital and never jumped back on the horse.

    Blessings

Hi Daniel! Thanks for stopping by. :) 4 lbs a WEEK is amazing! I am only losing a bit over a pound a week it seems. I am hoping I can stay on track this time! with all the gadgets I have – I should be able too! :)

I reckon the 4lb comes largely from there being plenty for me to lose heh. I keep putting it off though, going back to the gym that is. I really need to get angry with myself and storm off to the gym in a huff, that should do it.

Daniel, I hear ya. I gotta MAKE myself hop on the treadmill at night when I get home. I hate it sometimes, but I really want to lose weight. The only way I seem to be able to is watching my total caloric intake and hopping on my treadmill at least 3x a week.

I always monitor my Calories when i eat. I make sure that i dont eat foods that are very high in carbohydrates or foods with very high calories.

Pretty – Thanks for commenting on my blog. :) For the most part I follow and log everything I eat as well. Sometimes, like now – the winter months, it can get harder to do though because I get lazy..

Me too. When I put my mind to it I do anyways. Sometimes it’s a pain in the butt to do though. But if I wanna lose weight it’s what I gotta do.. :)

I am very conscious about my Calorie intake when eating.I usually restrict my Calorie intake so as not to gain weight and also i am into a low carb, low fat diet.
